Scientific Diagrams

A picture is worth a thousand words but when it comes to science communication a picture is far more valuable than that.

There are many concepts which would just be impossible to get across without a good diagram, and thousands more which can be communicated far more quickly and engagingly with one.

I was brought up on Usbourne books which I loved, and now I am almost unable to write more than about 2 paragraphs without some form of diagram or illustration.

I have now drawn hundreds (if not thousands) of diagrams for the Kitchen Science section of the Naked Scientists website, the Science from the Sporran Videos and  illustrated the book Crisp Packet Fireworks. I am certainly no artist but I think they are useful for the purpose they were designed for.
